Did he settle for less than the Astros offered? Altuve was willing to move off first. Been an Astros fan since 1980 when we moved first to Pasadena then bought a condo ironically a block and a half from the Dome. So many games….
2015 sold the condo. 2017 buried him in Ohio. Came home to Alabama after 3 snows in the middle of the pandemic.
Have continued watching Astros.
I feel like he gave Astros the middle finger.
JV to Giants. Tuck to Cubs.
I so miss my husband. He was such a voice of reason. He would say it is just business,Boss.
Baseball has always been about the organizations with the most money. Until baseball starts a model like football the scales will always be tipped to the teams with the most money. The fans will continue to fork out money. Ticket prices and concessions are now out of reach of most middle-income families. Watching games on TV is costing more too. Cable and streaming services are raising their prices too. I love my team(Orioles) but I will only go to the games maybe 2 to3 times a year now because of the increases in prices for everything. When will these greedy players and owners stop the money grab.
As an Astros fan, sad to see Bregman go, I was hoping the soft market would let him at least have the option of retiring as an Astro. Ah well.
He is still an elite defensive third baseman should they play him there. And he should hit 20 - 30 homers. But he used to have the second best eye in baseball, and he just doesn't anymore. His walk rate has plunged and his strikeouts have increased, which makes him less special. I still wish him well.
Sounds like Walker will replace Bregman just fine. Paredes will replace the first base hole. But who replaces Tucker ?!?!?
The Red Sox hired Chaim Bloom to rebuild the once-fallow farm system. He did that--and was rewarded for his efforts with a pink slip.
Red Sox Nation is cranky that the Sox have been acting like the Royals in terms of spending money. Like you said, the Bregman signing is more about perception than realistic expectations.
What makes your eyebrows raise about this one is named Kristian Campbell. He's the Sox's No. 2 prospect, ranked No. 9 overall, and their future second baseman.
Hope you feel better!

Great insight. Awful contract. Worse illness.

One of your bookstore visits needs to be The Country Bookshop in Southern Pines. I'll buy your dinner!
