I remain amazed that Scheffler hasn't won a U.S. Open yet with his metronomic habit of hitting greens and holing those 10-12 footers for par His game is built for that tournament. Let's hope the USGA doesn't channel its past habits at Shinnecock and turn that course into the Martian Open.
And your point about NBC rhapsodizing about Rory was illustrated in 3D living color when Cara Banks managed one question to poor Chris Gotterup before her producer told her she was done--so they could cut to Rory walking up another fairway.
Scheffler sometimes drives it crooked, which isn't the way to go in the Open but I'm pretty sure he'll win at least one....They had miked up Mcilroy and Harry Diamond on the way to the range, and Rory was talking about watching "Oppenheimer"' Saturday night and was about to make a point about it when Tirico jumped in and said, "He's talking about the movie Oppenheimer!" and drowned out whatever Rory said. Tirico is the kid in the front of the class who always has his hand up. Fortunately they're giving him less to do on the golfcasts, but we have a long Sunday Night Football season ahead with him.
