Bravo. I loathe the Patriots, and as a lifelong Raiders fan, believe that the blown call that resulted in the Tuck Rule might have changed the fortunes of two franchises long-term. However, I have immense respect for Belichick, and as I was watching some talking head mention that Bill never won a Super Bowl without Brady and that Lombardi was also a pretty good coach, I said out loud to no one in particular that Bart Starr wasn’t too shabby himself. Belichick is a genius, plain and simple.

It can’t be said better than this,
Mark, I look forward to your articles every day. Nobody does it better.

I quit wishing I could write like this and I'm just glad I got to read it!
I am aware that Steve Belichick had ties to both Navy and the Cleveland Browns, as a lifelong Browns fan. But this phrasing is extraordinary:
"When young Bill was helping his dad Steve write up scouting reports at Navy, he wasn’t coloring in emotions."
Nice writing here!
Excellent 👏
