I don't recall comparing the two situations but I wouldn't call Louisville mediocre.

Good column, Mark. Yes, FSU wasn’t the team we saw in September’s beat down of LSU. But an unbeaten record in a power conference should still mean something, including the right to continue until you lose on the field instead of in a meeting room. This committee is denying FSU that right . I’m guessing Michigan, Washington, Texas and Alabama are relieved they won’t have to face that defense. It was terrific, in September and again in December. Meanwhile, the CFP committee has no defense, none at all . Thanks, Norm

Cardale Jones passed for almost 300 yards with 2 touchdowns when Ohio state beat a good Wisconsin team 59 to 0 in the big ten championship game in 2014. I watched Florida State beat a mediocre Louisville team last night 16 to 6 last night. It was not my perception that the Seminoles had 219 total yards and most of those were out of the wildcat with a tailback at the quarterback position. Please don’t compare the two situations.

In 2014, Cardale Jones was an unknown, third-string quarterback at Ohio State, buried on the depth chart behind Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett. Jones was forced into service in the Big Ten championship game against Wisconsin, then against top-ranked Alabama in the first round of the playoffs. After leading OSU to an upset win over the Tide, Jones powered the Bucks to a win over Oregon for the national title. In his three starts, Jones went 46-for-75 passing with five touchdown passes and two interceptions. He also ran for a score in the national championship game. The committee punished Florida State on perception, denying the Seminoles an opportunity they had earned to prove the doubters wrong.
